We keep a written list of the interesting technologies we are allowed to use. It has three entries and it has never had four.

Postgres, a job queue, and a server that renders HTML. That is most of the stack, and it has been most of the stack for four years.

The three slots

New technology gets adopted by taking a slot, which means something else leaves. The rule sounds arbitrary until the first time it stops an argument in ten minutes.
